Happy Mother's Day
Posted on May 6th, 2016

As we are approaching Mother's Day weekend, I thought it was quite appropriate to share my heart with all of you lovely Mother's out there. I'm going to take a break from talking design, real estate, and home staging for one weekend, and celebrate all you beautiful mom's out there!

As a working mother myself, I know how hard it is to be the best mom you can be! From the long days, and sometimes even longer nights, sometimes it is downright tough to believe you are doing the right things as a parent. Here recently I've had a lot of mom guilt. As it is, being a realtor I work long hours, and have an unpredictable schedule. Most people that can buy a home obviously work during the day too! So when it comes to being able to meet with them, it obviously tends to be around their work schedule. So I am often pulled away from my family some evenings, and some weekends. (I wouldn't have it any other way! I love having a flexible schedule!) But hear my heart on this - it doesn't always make it easy when my 2 year old is crying as I leave him once again.

But guess what - I'm doing great! I know I'm a great mother, and I know I am able to provide for him in many different ways! Sometimes it seems difficult when I see other mom friends posting photos of all the fun things they get to do with their children throughout the day. In my mind, that's where the lie is sewn. There is no one right, or one perfect way to raise a family! Each family dynamic is so different. Each child is so different. And each mom is so different! It's time to stop comparing our parenting skills and family dynamic to other moms, and other families! WE ARE DOING THE BEST WE KNOW WE CAN DO! And guess what, it's okay for me and my family to continue to work, and go after the other calling the Lord has given me - helping families buy and sell homes, and helping them design their interior spaces! For other families the best decision for them is to be at stay at home moms! For my family, being a working mom is the best decision for our family.

When I started up Studio 12 Homes, I had a lot of other mom friends ask me if that was the right thing to do. I was questioned a lot about if I wanted more children, and how I'm going to raise a family while opening up and running a new business. It had me question it for a split second - until I heard the Lord to continue to push me along this path! I KNOW this is where he wants me at this moment. I KNOW that for me and my family, this was the best decision. I grew up watching my mom start and run her own business, and raise a family. She did the best she could, and all four of us Pierce kids turned out quite alright! (Thanks Dad! You are the absolute best Dad!)

So to all you moms out there, let's celebrate the life God gave us, the families he gave us, and the love he has for us. You are doing great, you are great moms, and He has you right where He needs you! Working moms, Stay at Home Moms, and all of you somewhere in-between, Happy Mother's Day! Here's to celebrating you and your families! Hug your babies a little tighter, for tomorrow is not promised!

Happy Mother's Day!

xoxo Jamie
